Write one main idea per sentence
First mentioned/ideated by: Anon
Try to write one main idea per sentence. If you have more ideas, write more sentences.
When writing, it is important to make sure that your sentences are readable & skimmable. That's why, it is very important to stick to one main idea per sentence.
For example, check out the below complex sentence & how it's been simplified by breaking the large, convoluted sentence into shorter, simpler ones.
Example:
Instead of:
He is a skilled football player and courageous too having rescued a nine year old child from being hit by a speeding car not one month back after which he was profusely thanked by the mother of the child who incidentally is autistic and goes to a nearby school for children with special needs.
Write:
He is a skilled football player. Courageous too. Not one month back he rescued a nine year old child from being hit by a speeding car and got thanked profusely by the mother. Incidentally, the child is autistic and goes to a nearby school for children with special needs.
